Her detention comes as Iran has been cracking down on intellectuals and others as Tehran struggles with sanctions, an ailing economy and the fear of a renewed war with Israel.
The deportations come as tensions remain high between the two countries after the U.S. bombed Iranian nuclear sites during Tehran's 12-day war with Israel.
The Iranian team, representing a country targeted by U.S. airstrikes in June and whose citizens are subject to a travel ban imposed by the Trump administration, will open its World Cup campaign in Seattle or Inglewood, California, on June 15.
Iran is legally obliged to cooperate with the IAEA under the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty. But it hasn't yet provided inspectors with access to nuclear sites.
