The operation was launched in retaliation for an attack that killed three Americans last week in Syria and is expected to last from several weeks to a month.
The countries added to the list are Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan and Syria. People with Palestinian Authority-issued travel documents are also fully restricted from U.S. travel.

The judge said the abrupt elimination of temporary protected status for Syrians was most likely illegal. The Trump administration can appeal immediately.
